BEST BUDGET PLACES TO STAY IN HAKUBA? Staying in Hakuba in the ski season does not have to cost an am or a leg (you might lose a pinkie though!). Location is paramount when it comes to hostels or guest houses and the following all have easy access to the slopes.
THE PHATPACKERS Right on the slopes of Tsugaike ski resort this ski in -ski out hostel caters to the younger party crowd. Breakfast is included and they serve bar meals. (extra cost). They do picks ups and drop offs for a fee. You can hardly go wrong if this sort of atmosphere appeals to you. TSUGAIKE GET A PRICE K’S HOUSE BACKPACKERS This well priced backpackers is definitely NOT a party hostel with the emphasis on quiet interaction. The hostel is absolutely spotless and facilities are well maintained. Only downside is location-although it is only a 10 min walk to Goryu/47 ski resort, it is quite diffuclt to get to any of the other resorts from here. They are without a doubt the cheapest in Hakuba so make sure you book WAY in advance or you will be very lucky to get a room.
